Alter-Ego: Wade Winston Wilson
Origin: Marvel Universe
Created By: Fabian Neceiza, Rob Leifeld
First Appearance: As a Supervillain, in New Mutants #98 (1991)
How did he become a supervillain/anti-hero: After he contracted cancer, he approached Weapon X, a joint American Canadian superhuman enhancement program, in hopes of a cure for the same. There, he was injected with the healing powers as that of Wolverine, a mutant. He chose to be a mercenary because after his brief military service, he realized he had exceptional martial arts skills and thought it was his duty to kill the people who deserved to die.
Important Group Affiliations: X-Force, Agency X, One World Church, Weapon X, Team Deadpool, Taskmaster, Tolliver, Hammerhead, Canadian Government
Powers: Deadpool’s most important ability is to heal through fast cell regeneration because of which neither can he be intoxicated nor can diseases affect him which leads to a slow ageing process, in turn. The speed of his healing is directly proportional to the severity of the injury that inflicts. His physical abilities include quick reflexes, mind-blowing speed, and overwhelming dexterity along.
Abilities: He has phenomenal combating abilities teamed with superhuman stamina that comes from his healing powers which prevent the production of fatigue. He is multilingual, with an ability to speak in five languages, fluently. He’s highly skilled with bladed weapons. He has an ability to break the fourth wall quite often, meaning, that he knows he’s a part of a comic series. He’s been known to predict the future and read other comics to know the strengths and weaknesses of his next opponent.
Achilles Heel: His healing abilities render his brain unreadable to telepaths, but its constant healing also makes him highly unstable and prone to violent outbursts without the slightest provocation. Wade's mental state has also proven to make him a very irritating person to be around with other people. Many heroes often find themselves at wits' end around him; this makes for poor ability to cooperate with him in team efforts.
Key Weapons and Devices: He is known to carry a magic satchel that has in it, unlimited armour and weaponry. He chooses his weapons based in his assignments, and specializes in blade artillery. He also uses a teleportation device to whisk him out of dangerous situations and a holographic image inducer that hides his true appearance for the time being.
Biggest Nemesis: T-Ray, Thanos (Jealous of Deadpool’s relationship with death)
Love Interests: Death (Uncanny incomplete love story), Vanessa Carlysle (aka Copycat), Theresa Cassidy (aka Siryn), Mercedes Wilson (alleged wife), Inez Temple (aka Outlaw), Yelena Bolova (aka Black Widow)
