It’s blissful news for the Game of thrones fans worldwide! These fans have been longing for some news like this! It’s true that Game of thrones is too big for television and should be made into a movie. The extravagant storyline of this series is grand and should definitely be projected on the big screen.
Charles Dance, who plays Tywin Lanister in the hit HBO series, recently confirmed in an interview with The Daily Beast that there are active discussions taking place for a movie to happen. He said,
"There’s talk of eventually trying to do a feature film, but I don’t know which of the storylines. There’s so much to cram into a film."
And going back to the New York Premiere of the 4th season of the series, the author of the book George RR Martin said, “The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know." This is completely true, only a big screen budget would be able to do justice to his book.
At this point, it is hard to speculate as to what content would be produced in the form of a movie. There are so many storylines and this has to be a thought through process. There are possibilities of a prequel movie coming forth, adapted from the novella series of Martin, Tales of Dunk and Egg which describes tales from a time that is 90 years preceding Game of Thrones age. But the main characters of the series would be missing from the prequel, which might be disappointing for the fans.
Meanwhile, the fifth season of Game of Thrones is all set to premiere in 2015 on HBO.
